Kids to Parks Day Celebrated All Summer

Get outdoors and celebrate this national day of play ALL summer long!

The City of Loveland Parks & Recreation Department is excited to announce the release of the 

Kids to Parks Day Adventure Book. 


City of Loveland Parks & Recreation is encouraging families to visit parks and free events at parks all summer long with our Kids to Parks Adventure Book. This free booklet is full of fun games, play ideas and information about local parks and open spaces in Loveland. Kids are encouraged to complete activities and attend free events to receive a sticker for their book and earn a prize at the end of the summer. 



 "We hope by visiting parks and open spaces it will broaden children's appreciation for nature and outdoors while recognizing the importance of recreating responsibly," said Kerry Helke, Parks & Recreation’s senior recreation coordinator and department representative. 

The Loveland City Council has proclaimed Saturday, May 21, 2022, Kids to Parks Day in Loveland and encourages local youth and families to participate by exploring all of the wonderful parks and open spaces available to Loveland’s citizens. 

Thousands of children nationwide, including here in Loveland will take part in a grassroots movement to discover America’s parks through play on Saturday, May 21, to commemorate National Park Trust’s (NPT) twelfth annual Kids to Parks Day. 

At a time when an obesity epidemic touches nearly 1 in 3 children who are either overweight or obese, communities are witnessing sky-rocketing rates of high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes and elevated cholesterol levels in children. Like Loveland, other cities across the nation are committing to a simple motto: “active kids are healthy kids” and encouraging their residents to use Kids to Parks Day as the first of many days spent outdoors, at local parks and recreation sites, to develop more active, healthy lifestyles. 

Booklets will be available starting May 21st at the Kite Festival at Loveland Sports Park from 10:00am – 3:00pm.After that they will be at Chilson Recreation Center and other locations. For specific locations, answer keys and more please visit our site here.
