Find Your Family Fun Honoring Grandparents.

By Melissa Shrader Editor/Publisher Loveland Macaroni Kid September 14, 2020

WELCOME TO PUBLISHER'S CORNER!

A quick mention about our grandparents.

We have been very fortunate to have parents and grandparents with us for a long time. At least I have. My husband grandmother help raise him and care for him in high school while his parents went to the East Cost to begin a franchise. She was a huge influence in his life.

My maternal grandmother Gertrude or Grandma Na passed away the day I graduated from college. I can remember it like it was yesterday. My maternal Grandfather Grandpa Pa passed when our daughter was 3. I miss him greatly. He was the patriarch of the family and things have not been the same since. We was fortunate to have him with us for a long time. My husband got to spend a time with him fishing and watching football games. I remember holiday dinners, sitting on his lap, having jalapeno eating contests, and watching him hold our daughter.

I was fortunate to have my paternal grandmother with us till this year. She passed at the end of March when all the COVID Crazy happened and we never had a "real" funeral. However our little family honored her in our own way and will miss her.

My daughter is very fortunate to have both sets of grandparents alive and we spend a lot of time with them. I know she will have wonderful memories of holidays, playing on the farm, watching the stars and sleep overs at the grandparents houses.

On that note I'd like to say Happy Grandparents to all of the grandparents. You are the heart and soul of the family and are deeply loved by those around you. Remember you are special.
