Like The A Butterfly The Gardens Have Emerged Beautiful.

By Melissa Shrader Editor Publisher Loveland Macaroni Kid November 10, 2019

The Gardens On Spring Creek are ready to spread its wings after it's transformation, and show off the beauty of their new attractions.

Just like a caterpillar going through metamorphosis into a butterfly, the Gardens have been transformed. The exterior of the Gardens On Spring Creek feature several different eco-systems. Prairie, Foothills, Undaunted, Great Lawn, Wetlands, and Themes ( Plant Select, Rose, Moon, Fragrance and Butterfly & Hummingbird).

Each of the unique gardens offer something special but the highlights include the largest collection of cold hardy cactus on display in the USA. The Prairie and Foothills boast the function and beauty of our native plants.

The Great Lawn and Everitt Pavilion will be the one of the focal point and main gathering place to main attractions in the gardens. When you see the space you can see the excitement and energy it brings to the Gardens.  There will be community events, private functions, and public concerts held here throughout the year.

The Butterfly House is the gem, holding over 300 varieties of native North American butterflies and dozens of varieties of flowering plants. Chrysalis will be delivered and housed in the Chrysalis room until butterflies emerge and spread their wings. Once they emerge and are ready, the butterflies are released into the Butterfly house. There are so many incredibly beautiful plants and garden features that will create a welcoming environment for both the butterflies and visitors alike. The main focal point is the living wall modeled after Vincent Van Gogh's Stary night. The Butterfly house is a sister facility to the Butterfly Pavilion in Westminster. Both are unique in the world, and in our state, breaking new ground both locally and internationally. Each are unique in the species of butterflies they host. The Butterfly Pavilion houses tropical varieties of butterflies and the Butterfly House will be home to North American species. The Butterfly House is he first stand-alone accredited non-profit invertebrate zoo build in partnership with the Butterfly Pavilion and is the first of it's kind in Northern Colorado.

The new Visitor's Center has doubled in size, and will be the first place visitors will be welcomed. There is a new entrance and lobby area with one single point of entry to the gardens. The facility houses a great community meeting room that you may rent for classes, weddings, meetings and more. The new store will offer fun gifts, art, and crafts for those looking for unique gifts and souvenirs of their visit. A new addition coming in 2020 will be a Cafe Concessions area with snacks and beverages that guests can purchase.

The Gardens on Spring Creek will continue to offer a wide variety of incredible classes, events and many community educational opportunities for adults and children alike. The Gardens on Spring Creek classes include gardening, arts, crafts, culinary and urban homesteading. Kids can enjoy Read and Seed, Summer Camps, Classes, Schools out, and more.
